The Championship This season's Coca-Cola Championship is coming to a dramatic end -with the second automatic promtion place turning into a nail-biting three way tussle!
So Who Will Finish In The Second Automatic Promotion Place? As the season draws to a close, early leaders Wolves have the title sewn up, but the race for second place is still wide open!
We take a look at the three contenders and weigh up their respective chances...
Birmingham (34-36) had risen six points in the Sporting Index market -following their away win at Watford, but suffered a setback against Preston last Saturday. This caused their quote to drop back down to 34-36. Their final game is away against fellow promotion hopefuls Reading -who have a great defensive record at the Majeski Stadium. Brum have struggled to score goals this season -especially away from St Andrews, so this could be a real uphill task for the Blues, who need a win to be certain of promotion. With only veteran Kevin Phillips having reached double figures in the league goal scoring charts Brum having been scratching around all season for goals -this could be their downfall.
An amazing recent run of eight wins and three draws in twelve games has seen Sheffield United (33-35) go up by a remarkable twenty-nine points in the market since mid-January. Don't be surprised to see them go up in second on the final day of the season -as their final fixture is against Neil Warnock's Crystal Palace! What price he plays his youth team? The perfect scenario for the Blades is an away win at Palace (taking them to 82 points) and Reading and Birmingham playing out a draw -which may be poetic justice for the team that were 'cheated' out of their place in the premiership by West Ham and the Tevez affair.
Reading (13-15) have a slim chance of claiming the final automatic promotion spot -but they must beat Birmingham and hope that Sheffield United slip up against Crystal Palace on the last day of the season. But all that will be academic if they don't beat Norwich at Carrow Road this evening.
So Who Should I Back?
Our choice Sheffield United (Buy @ 35)-are capable of beating Palace, but your fingers may be crossed that Reading can hold off Brum.
