DAY 12 - Thursday 19th June
Results
Germany 3 Portugal 2
Outright Index -Germany took a giant leap for mankind -up 28 pts to 71-73 as the bookies expect them to dispose of Croatia in the same clinical way that they dealt with Portugal.
Spain rose slightly and Italy dropped a touch just before their match on Sunday night -miss it at your peril!
Golden Boot -Ballack leapt up to 2nd place (up a massive 15 pts 24-27) on the scorers spread after his leap to score Germany's 2nd goal. We tipped him on Day 3, so I hope you got on board...
Ibrahimovic dropped another 2 pts (16-19) as he was joined on 2 goals by both Pavlyuchenko and Ballack.
Special Markets -Total goal mins rose 120 pts after the Germany v Portugal goalfest (4120-4170).
Fastest Goal edged up towards the 200 second mark (188-192) as Croatia 215 is still the quickest strike of the tournament.
Wide shots rose once more by ten points (354-358) as Germany and Portugal got trigger happy and had 20 shots between them in their encounter.
Total Fouls unexpectedly dropped rose by 15 pts to 1085-1095.

DAY 11 - Wednesday 18th June
Results
Russia 2 Sweden 0
Spain 2 Greece 1
Outright Index -Russia rose 23 pts to 35-38, could they be this year's Greece? Unlikely, as they have to play the rampant Dutch in the quarter-finals.
Italy look overpriced at 47-50 as they play Spain next without the influential midfield pairing of Pirlo and Gattuso, both of whom are suspended..
Golden Boot -Villa edged towards winning the index (up 2 pts at 54-57). Ibrahimovic dropped 6 pts (18-21) after Sweden crashed out to Russia, for whom star striker Pavlyuchenko scored his second of the competition and became 2nd favourite at 24-27.
Special Markets -Total goal minutes is definitely going to finish at the 2004 result of 3920!
Total Goal Yards has dropped yet again -even after Italy scored with a 30 yard free kick!
Wide shots has risen (334-338) as teams search for goals to keep them in the tournament -expect this to rise a little more as the knockout stages ensue.
Total Fouls rose by 20 pts to 1100-1120 and is creeping up towards 1150.

DAY 10 - Tuesday 17th June
Results
Holland 2 Romania 0
Italy 2 France 0
Outright Index -Holland reinforced their position as favourite edging up slightly to 57-60. Italy were the big winners of the night -jumping a huge 34 points to 46-49, although that may be a false quote if they play as poorly as they did against Romania. The upshot of the Italian victory was the downturn in the quote for Spain -down 5 pts to 47-50, as they will now have to face Italy in the 1/4s.
Golden Boot -Villa edged towards winning the index (up 2 pts at 54-57). Ibrahimovic rose 4 pts (24-27) on the back of players being rested and Henry's exit along with France (he dropped 8 pts to 2-4 as predicted yesterday!)).
In fact many of the contenders
whose teams are left in went up in the spread by a few points.
Special Markets -Total goal minutes is definitely going to finish at the 2004 result of 3920!
Dodgy Keepers jumped up by 3 pts to 55-57 as the Russian keeper choice to punch rather than catch several times against Sweden. He has done this on several occasions and is well worth following in the match against Holland.
Wide shots has risen yet again (344-348) with both Spain and Russia shooting on sight in their final group matches.
Total Fouls dropped by 15 pts 1085-1095 after a quiet night for the refs in Group D.

DAY 9 - Monday 16th June
Results
Poland 0 Croatia 1
Germany 1 Austria 0
Outright Index -Germany rose slightly (46-49) as they booked their place in the knockout stages. Romania received an unexpected boost in the market as word got around that the Dutch may well play a weakened team in their final group match -so allowing the Romanians to progress at the expense of both the French and the Italians. France look good value to sell at 8-11 as they must beat Italy and hope that the Dutch don't lie down in their game.
Golden Boot -Ballack rose slightly 8-11 after his amazing strike against Austria, but his countryman Klose dropped to 4-7 following another goaless display. If the French do go out at the group stages then Henry would be a good sell at 10-13 -as there should be enough multiple scorers to keep him out of the points in the scorers index.
Special Markets -Undoubtedly the most volatile of markets, the Total goal minutes spread dropped back to 4030-4080 and you just knw that no matter how much it fluctuattes its going to end up at the 2004 result of 3920!
Total Goal Yards has dropped yet again as the tap-in culture continues.
Wide shots has risen (328-332) after the poor shooting of both Germany and Austria.
Both Converted Penalties and MIssed Penalties were in a mild state of flux as no-one except UEFA knew if France and Italy would have to take penalties to decide who finished third in their group (as if it mattered...).

DAY 8 - Sunday 15th June
Results
Portugal 0 Switzerland 2
Czech Rep 2 Turkey 3
Outright Index -Turkey took a huge jump in the markets -up a whopping 30 pts to 34-37. The knock-on effect was that Croatia rose to 49-52 as it seemed that their passage to the semis was now made easier having to play the Turks.
Portugal were relatively unchanged at 51-54 after fielding their second team against hosts Switzerland.
Golden Boot -Nihat Kahvec jumped up to 17-20 following his two late goals for Turkey in the thriller against Czech Rep.
Special Markets -The spate of late goals has once again pushed up the Total goal minutes spread to 4250-4300 which is 350 over the 2004 result. Total Goal Yards has risen slightly, but only on the sheer volume of goals.
Fouls has jumped 30 pts to 1080-1100, but this should get a little higher as the knockout stages ensue and things become desperate for some teams.
Wide shots have dropped yet again by 10 pts (316-320) as teams try to walk the ball into the goal in Arsenal fashion!
Dodgy Keepers is up 10 pts (54-57) as the men between the sticks are using their fists to good effect -I bet that Cech wishes he had adopted this method...

DAY 7 - Saturday 14th June
Results
Spain 2 Sweden 1
Russia Greece
Outright Index -Spain guaranteed their place in the next phase and up went their quote by 3 points to 53-56. Sweden were down 3 pts at 20-23 -i-they now have a winner take all game against the improving Russians who are up 6 pts at 14-17.
Golden Boot -David Villa reinforced his place at the top of the pile (52-55) and is best left alone. Torres (17-20) opened his account and now looks set for the 40 pts on offer for 2nd place. This could be the perfect time to get on board -as he is only one goal behind the pack chasing 2nd place and a forty point prize. After 6 matches of 2008, only one of the 18 named players has scored, and several players have moved up the list without even playing!
Pavlyuchenko dropped 6 pts to 9-12 after failing to find the net against Sweden.
Ibrahimovic jumped up to 23-26, but he limped off at half time against Spain and may not play again if Swden lose to the Russians.
Special Markets -The fastest goal spread continues to edge up as the games progress (160-164), it is still 50 pts under -so effectively you are backing at 1/4. I reckon this is good value, but it can be nerve-racking watching the first three minutes of every game!
Total goal minutes has edged up to the magical 4000 mark. A spurt of late goals has pushed the quote to 3980-4030 and is probably about right.
Although with most of the goals being scored inside the penalty area the Total Goal Yards market has dropped (780-800) as the fears of the swerving ball have proved unfounded and only Ibrahimovic has scored from any distance so far.

DAY 4 -Tuesday 10th June
Results
Spain 4 Russia 1
Sweden 2 Greece 0
Outright Index -Spain were the day's big winners and their stock rose 10 pts up to 50-53. Russia on the other hand, went down 6 pts (8-11), although wins in their next two games will see them through. Sweden were up 10 pts at 23-26 -if you think they can beat the winners of Group C, now is the time to get on.
Greece are now friendless at 2-4, as their chances of retaining the title went up in smoke against the Swedes.
Golden Boot -David Villa may have sewn up the Golden Boot after just one match following his fantastic hatrick. As you would expect, his quote jumped up an astonishing 36 pts to 49-52. Torres set his striking partner get all the goals and his stock drop by 12 pts to 13-16. This could be the perfect time to get on board -as he is only one goal behind the pack chasing 2nd place and a forty point prize. After 6 matches of 2008, only one of the 18 named players has scored, and several players have moved up the list without even playing!
Pavlyuchenko has risen 5 pts to 15-18 after his consolation strike against Spain but he wont finish in the top three if Russia don't qualify.
Special Markets -The fastest goal spread is rising slowly as the games progress (135-140), but it is still 75 pts under and is good value as the Croatian penalty could well be the quickest goal we see at Euro 2008.
Total goal minutes received a real boost with six goals from the two games and 300+ from the Spain match. The effect was for the spread to rise 200 pts to 3650-3700 -it is now inching up towards the 2004 total of 3920.
Although with most of the goals being scored inside the penalty area the Total Goal Yards market is static at 820-850.
Fouls are down 15 pts at
1050-1080, but that could yet rise as elimination looms.
Wide shots were down 8 pts (327-332) as teams continue to walk the ball into the net -rather than the shoot on sight policy employed at previous Euro competitions.

DAY 3 -Monday 9th June
Results
France 0 Romania 0
Holland 3 Italy 0
Outright Index -Italy plummeted 11 pts to 22-25 after their emphatic 3-0 defeat against the Dutch, who themselves jumped up a massive 20 points to 45-48 as they looked good to qualify for next stage and guarantee 25 pts on the Outright Index. France were down 9 pts at 22-25 as they struggled to breakdown a stoic Romanian side who remained the same price at 9-12.
Golden Boot -van Nistelrooy leapt to the top of the charts with his dodgy goal against Italy -gaining a massive 13 pts in the process (13-16 to 26-29). Toni saw his stock drop by 6 pts to 11-14 as Italy hovvered on the brink of elimination. unlikely to score for Poland, so if you sold h. After 6 matches of 2008, only one of the 18 named players has scored, and several players have moved up the list without even playing! It may transpire that anyone who scores will finish in the money on this spread -with that in mind, Ballack looks likely to play at least five games and so should score -he is a good buy at 13.
Special Markets -The fastest goal spread is rising slowly as the games progress (135-140), but it is still 75 pts under and is good value as the Croatian penalty could well be the quickest goal we see at Euro 2008.
Total goal minutes dropped yet again to 3430-3480 (down from 3550-3600) -the lack of goals in this tournament is having a big effect on this market.
Those who thought that the swerving ball would be beneficial for the Total Goal Yards market took another hit as it dropped another 20 pts to 840-850.
|
DAY 2 -Sunday 8th June
Results
Croatia 1 Austria 0
Germany 2 Poland 0
Outright Index -Austria dropped like a stone from to 1-3 after their defeat against the Croatians, who themselves jumped up 7 points to 32-35 as they looked good to qualify for next stage and guarantee 25 pts on the Outright Index. Germany were up 5 pts at 55-58 following a decent performance against the Poles who dropped down to 5-8.
Golden Boot -Klose failed to score and dropped to 15-18 from 19-22. Smolarek looked unlikely to score for Poland, so if you sold him at 11 you made a shrewd mve as he is now 4-7. After 4 matches of 2008, none of the 18 named players has scored, so there is still plenty of time to get onto this market and find some value
Special Markets -Croatia were awarded an early penalty in their game against hosts Austria -which they duly converted in 215 seconds. The fastest goal spread dropped slightly to 130-138, but it is still 77 points under and maybe worth a punt as I feel that will be the quickest goal we see at Euro 2008.
Total goal minutes dropped to 3550-3600 (down from 3700-3770) as things are fairly defensive -and this probably won't change much rise following the opening games from Group C which looks very tight.

DAY 1 -Saturday 7th June
Results
Czech Rep 1 Switzerland 0
Portugal 2 Turkey 0
Outright Index -Switzerland dropped like a stone from 17-20 to 4-7 after their defeat against the Czech Rep, who themselves jumped up 7 points to 29-32 as they looked good to qualify for next stage and guarantee 25 pts on the Outright Index.
Golden Boot -Ronaldo failed to score and dropped to 19-22 from 24-27. Alex Frei limped off for the Swiss, so if you sold him at 14 you are quids in, as it looks like both him and his team are done for! Jan Koller was surprisingly subbed by Czech coach Bruckner early in the 2nd half and his replacement duly scored the winner. He is now down to 4-7 in the Golden Boot Index.
Special Markets -There were no early goals in today's games, so the fastest goal spread rose to 138-148, this still looks a good buy, as the games seem to be taking some time to get going.
Total wide shots dropped to 322-330 as things are fairly defensive -Saturday's two matches yielded only 14 wides. This is a good sell at 322.

Here's a selection of the comments & tips that you sent us during Euro 2004...
'I've just brought Rooney on the Golden Boot Index at 42. 60pts if he is top scorer. We'll get to the final and he'll keep scoring. 18 pts profit. ROOOOONEY.

'Great site. I've sold total tournament corners for £4 a corner at 320. There are never many corners in international matches. I think the total will end up at around 270. 50pts profit is £200!
keep up the good work.'
Pete - Cambridge

'France should win the tournament with their players. I've brought them at 55 on the tournament index for £10 a point. When they qualify for the 1/4's i'll close out and should get a price around 63 or 64 to close. Easy profit of £80 or £90.'
Paul - Harrow

'Hi guys. I've brought Sweden at 20 on the tournament index for £10 a point. Think they will certainly make the quarter finals and get me at least 25 points, and will then probably play Holland or the Czechs, so could make the semis and 50pts.
Also had a look at some of the specials but not had a bet yet. I'm waiting for the total tournament bookings - any ideas when that will be realeased?'
Jake - Stirling

'Morning fella's. Some interesting stuff on your site. I've never spread betted before but i've just opened a Sporting Index account online which was pretty easy. I'll get a £200 free supremacy bet after i've placed 10 bets, so i'll mail you for suggestions of who to back after my 10 bets - you better be right!
I've decided to put my first bet on total headed goals in the tournament. I've brought at £10 per headed goal at 15. I can't lose a lot, but I reckon there will be more than 15 so I should win a few quid. It'll also be a bit of fun willing headed goals for the 31 games as well. Come on headers!!!'
Rick - Sheffield

'The Italians and Swedes are good bets for Group C. I'm buying them both on the group and tournament index. May get out after the group stages, but not sure yet. Will keep you posted.'
Dave Evans - Swansea

'Just been looking through some of the bets that you've posted. Some of them look quite attractive - total goals, wides etc, but you've got to be mad to do total tournament goal minutes. Bloody hell, i'd be scared to death of that bet!
Might have a go on total goals though. I've worked through each fixture in the groups and get 75 goals after 24 games. I think that a buy at 78 is pretty good value with 7 more games to come after the groups. Just need to open an account now - how does the £200 free bet work?'
Alex - Brighton

' I've just had a look at some of the special bets and I've done the dodgy keeper bet for a bit of fun. I've brought at £5 per point at 56. The continental keepers that i've seen over the years have a tendacy to punch the ball whenever it goes near them, so i think that could be a winner. Regardless, it'll be a laugh with my mates, yelling at the keepers to punch all the time!'
Andrew Jakes - Leyland

'Euro 2004 will be a goal fest. Buy total tournament goals at 77.5. I have.'
Swifty - St Albans

'I think there'll be a load of red cards in this tournament. The referees want to be centre stage these days. A good buy at 8. I'm gonna do it for £10 a point.'
